Transparency: The New World Order!

In this world of secrets and subversiveness, transparency seems like it would be the last thing that would be “game changing” (man I hate that term but it is apropos)

Let’s start with one of those handy definitions.

transparency [trænsˈpærənsɪ -ˈpɛər-]n pl -cies

1. Also called transparence the state of being transparent

Now why would I call that The New World Order? Well, in a world where Facebook and Twitter are so intertwined in the fabric of America, and more importantly the world, being who you are and honest mean more then ever.
I remember when the internet started and everyone was getting those AOL disks in the mail, everyone talked about how you have to be careful talking to people because you couldn’t REALLY tell who they are. You could be whomever you wanted to be online. People were afraid of giving too much information as it may be used against each other.

Now we are becoming a global community and friends are being made across the globe. This gives us the ability to be who we are and not hold back out of fear of the unknown. We don’t go to parties and hold back our personalities from people we meet. We are who we are in “real” life, which is what we should be doing in our online world.

The online world has become such an integral part of our lives that, business needs to realize that this is where the world comes to congregate, socialize, and SHOP! We as small business need to make sure that we have a firm grasp on our transparency and be honest with our online customers. Give them the customer service you would like to give them face to face. With twitter, facebook and other online social media outlets so readily available through our mobile devices, having an online presence will give you a real world presence. And if people don’t feel like they can trust you in their social media circles they won’t trust you face to face.
Remember they will tell two friends good or bad. In fact remember the old saying, “If someone likes your business they will tell 11 friends. If they don’t they will tell EVERYONE”

Take care of each other!
